Tateyama Kurobe Alps Tour
Experience a variety of means of transportation (tunnel trolleybus, cable car and aerial ropeway) to start the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route trip.
Starting from Ogizawa, the trolleybus will take you through the 6.1-kilometer-long Kanden Tunnel to the Kurobe Reservoir (1,470 meters above sea level). Pass through [Kurobe Dam] and take the underground cable car to [Kurobedaira] (1,828 meters above sea level) where you can overlook the entire Kurobe Lake. Then, the ropeway will take you to the [Daikanbo Observation Deck] (elevation 2,316 meters), where you can have an unobstructed view of the Japanese Alps and the lake behind the dam. Starting from the Daikanbo Observation Deck, another trolleybus will take you across Tateyama to [Murodo] (2,450 meters above sea level) and the famous [Daisetsu Valley].
[Kurobe Dam] was completed in 1963 and is the largest arched dome overflow dam in Japan. The dam with a height of 186 meters discharges more than 10 tons of water per second, which is very shocking!
